A Winning Design That Captures Mountain Valley Magic

We're thrilled to announce that Slate River Storage now features a stunning new mural created by talented Crested Butte High School student Tazlina "Tazzy" Pozner. This beautiful artwork was selected as one of three winning designs in our recent mural competition with local high schools, earning Tazzy a well-deserved $1,000 prize.

The Inspiration Behind Tazzy's Masterpiece

Tazzy's breathtaking landscape captures the essence of our Colorado mountain valley with its serene water and river theme. The mural showcases rolling hills reflected in crystal-clear waters under a brilliant blue sky, perfectly embodying the natural beauty that surrounds our Slate River Storage facility.

Her artistic vision transforms our building into a celebration of the pristine wilderness that makes Crested Butte so special. The peaceful composition invites viewers to pause and appreciate the tranquil waters that flow through our valley.

Standing Out Among Talented Competition

The mural competition drew 15 talented contestants from the entire Crested Butte High School art class, each bringing their unique perspective to represent the spirit of our mountain community.

Tazzy's design stood out for its masterful use of color and composition, creating a peaceful scene that captures the natural splendor of our valley. The way she balanced the mountain silhouettes with the flowing water elements demonstrates remarkable artistic maturity for a high school student.

Investing in Our Community's Future

This initiative represents more than just beautifying our facilities. It's about investing in our community's future. By supporting young artists like Tazzy, we're fostering creativity and providing opportunities for students to showcase their talents on a professional scale.
